Evangeline means “Messenger of Good Tidings.” This angel was designed and handcrafted by local jewelry artist, Julie Sims, in honor of Evergreen’s 150th anniversary. Known for creating jewelry that captures life’s meaningful moments, Julie approaches each piece as a story—an expression of memory, connection, and the relationships we carry with us. Evangeline reflects this philosophy beautifully.

   After Julie’s inspiration drawing was finalized, a computer-assisted design program was used to fine-tune the details and create a 3D-printed wax model, blending old-world artistry with modern tools. From there, the wax is cast and molded, forming the foundation to replicate each angel. Every piece is then individually cast in silver, sanded, and polished by hand to ensure it meets the highest standards to surely become a cherished heirloom.

   Inspired by the landscape and spirit of Evergreen, Evangeline carries the essence of our mountain home—steadfast peaks, rising trees, and ever-changing skies. This year’s gemstone is a lab-grown emerald, and is associated with promoting love, wisdom, and abundance. It’s vibrant green color represents rebirth and renewal.

 

   Created for a milestone year in our community’s history, Evangeline celebrates 150 years of mountain resilience and beauty. Her design is a throwback to the beginning of the Evergreen Angels. She serves as a quiet reminder that the connections we hold— family, community, and the land around us— become part of our legacy, passed from one generation to the next.
